Rapidly evolving technology has affected every aspect of human existence. From education to entertainment, technology surrounds us. If we take a step back and reflect, we depend on technologies unheard of no more than ten years ago. And the healthcare industry is not alienated from these developments in any way.

With the innovation creeping in, our perception of good healthcare has evolved significantly. This perception has been tremendously affected by our vision for a technologically developed future. The invention and eventual intervention of Artificial Intelligence and lightning-fast wireless connectivity seem to have opened a door. A door to the world of robots treating our old and diseased. Almost like sci-fi coming to reality.

However, the reality is a little different. It is something we can wrap our heads around. There will still be robots around but only to make the life of our doctors easier and healthcare more accessible. Let us look at how. Here are five ways in which robotics is changing the healthcare industry.

Micro bots and nanotechnology

Imagine this, a micro-robot that can enter your body and provide immediate ailment to an affected region inside the body. Sounds like an idea borrowed from a sci-fi movie, but it is not. Scientists at several research institutes around the world are working to turn this into reality.

These microbots will soon make a huge difference in delivering medicines to different body parts efficiently. They can carry the drugs to any part of the body, either by entering your bloodstream or through bodily openings. Once they are inside the body, they can deliver the medicine to the affected site very accurately.

Additionally, there have been instances where nanotech was deployed inside patients to closely monitor biological activities. This means that these micro-robots can help doctors in both detecting and treating illnesses.

Enhancing precision and accuracy

The two most amazing things about robots are that they never get tired, and they never get nervous. No hormones mean no chance of shaky hands. The level of precision that can be achieved using robots for surgical tasks is immaculate. As long as the programs running them is as per the need, they can revolutionize the world of surgery forever.

Helping people with disabilities

This is not something new. Robotics has been used to provide physical support to patients with disabilities for quite some time now. Whether it is providing bodily support to someone suffering from paralysis or a technologically equipped prosthetic.

Nursing Robots

Looking after a patient is an exceptionally challenging job. It requires diligence, patience, and a lot of area expertise. Robots can perform several nursing tasks, easing the load on the healthcare workers. Not only this, there are several places around the world where the number of healthcare workers is just not enough. Think about war-struck regions or underdeveloped countries facing a crisis. Deploying AI-equipped robots to support doctors can work wonders for general healthcare in such places.

Technology does not discriminate

This is probably the most important change that robotics will bring to healthcare. Robots do not discriminate between the patients based on gender, race, religion, color, and caste. Discrimination with minorities is one of the biggest challenges faced by global healthcare today. There are millions of people around the globe denied healthcare due to one or more identity markers.

Deploying more and more technology to the healthcare system will reduce this problem significantly. Robots do not ascribe to any religion, faith, or gender. They are not biased towards a particular portion of the population. This can be the greatest advantage of robotics in healthcare, making it accessible to everyone.
